YOU’RE COOL, drawn 7, anticipated the start and accelerated the gate at the same moment as the race had been started.
Being satisfied that it was not caused through a faulty action of the starting stalls, no further action was taken.
Billy Loughnane, the rider of Apache Star (IRE), drawn 9, had appeared not to keep straight from the stalls.
Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Loughnane was accompanied in the enquiry by the trainer.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, the rider was suspended for 1 day.
Passing the 4-furlong marker, a free running TWIGHLIGHT MISCHIEF, placed fifth, edged slightly right- handed at the same time as the winner, Bomb Squad (IRE), shifted marginally left-handed causing Peachey Carnehan (GB), placed third, to be checked after running out of racing room, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Bomb Squad (IRE).
Phil Dennis, the rider of Peachey Carnehan (GB), placed third, was suspended for 2 days for using his whip above the permitted level from 1 ½ furlongs out.
Following the race, Kevin Stott reported that Big Impact (GB), placed sixth, ran too free and Mollie Phillips reported that Astrophysics (GB), placed second, also ran too freely.
