THE AL SHAQAB GOODWOOD CUP STAKES (CLASS 1) (Group 1) Having reviewed the start, the Stewards were satisfied that Amiloc (GB), drawn 1, ridden by Hector Crouch, was deemed to be a runner as the rider was mounted as the start was effected before Amiloc (GB) jumped left-handed, resulting in Crouch catching his leg on the starting stalls, causing him to become unbalanced and ultimately unseated shortly after the start.
Trawlerman (IRE), drawn 8, anticipated the start and accelerated the gate at the same moment as the start had been effected, thereby enabling the gelding to break quickly.
Being satisfied that it was not caused through a faulty action of the starting stalls, no further action was taken.
An enquiry was held to consider two incidents of interference approaching 3 and 2 furlongs out involving RAHEIBB, placed third, ridden by Ray Dawson and Miss Alpilles (GB), placed sixth, ridden by Kieran Shoemark.
In the first incident, Dawson was suspended for 4 days for improper riding as he angled his mount left-handed into an insufficient gap, giving a bump to MISS APPILLES, and taking it off its intended line, when it should have been obvious that his maneuver would cause interference.
In the second incident, the interference was found to be accidental as Miss Alpilles (GB) had edged slightly right-handed at the same time as Rahiebb (GB) had lugged quicky left-handed, resulting in the two runners making contact.
Approximately 2 furlongs out, the riderless Amiloc (GB), edged right-handed towards the rail resulting in the rider of Trawlerman (IRE), placed second, having to take a check for a number of strides when placed on the heels of Amiloc (GB).
Following the race, James Doyle reported that French Master (IRE), placed fourth, was slowly away and Kieran Shoemark reported that Miss Alpilles (GB), place sixth, was very slowly away.
