THE LADIES DAY SUNDAY 16TH AUGUST HANDICAP HURDLE RACE (CLASS 5) Permission was given for Jaffa Cake (IRE) to wear a red hood to post and for Sweet Serene (GB) to be mounted in the chute.
After an initial false start, the start was effected successfully on the second attempt.
However, having reviewed recordings of the false start, the Starters were satisfied that no riders should be reported for contravening the starting procedures.
The apparent improvement in form of the winner, In The Purple (IRE), which had never previously been placed, was considered.
Olly Murphy’s representative’s comments that the gelding benefitted from a step up in trip to 2 miles and 4 furlongs from 1 mile and 7 furlongs on this occasion, were noted.
Following the race, Jack Andrews reported that Huckleberry Sting (GB), unplaced, ran too free.
