THE HR SMITH HANDICAP STEEPLE CHASE (CLASS 4) (For The Boyne Cup) (GBB RACE) The winner, Zacony Rebel (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Hereford on 18 March 2026 where the gelding finished fifth of six runners beaten by 33½ lengths.
Sarah Jayne Davies' explanation that the gelding benefitted from quicker ground today, officially described as Good, as well as a step up in trip from 2 miles and 5 furlongs to 3 miles was noted.
Zacony Rebel (IRE) was routine tested.
The performance of Tax For Max (GER) which finished unplaced, was considered.
Nigel & Willy Twiston-Davies' explanation that the gelding was never travelling and made several jumping errors, was noted.
