The winner, Uncle Arthur (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Taunton on 16 November 2023, where the gelding finished tenth of fifteen runners, beaten 19½ lengths.
The explanation given by Fergal O’Brien’s representative that the gelding benefitted through a drop in class from handicap company to a claimer was noted.
Uncle Arthur (GB) was routine tested.
Following the race, Dylan Whelan reported that he pulled up Tara Vango (IRE) after jumping the third hurdle, due to his saddle having slipped forward badly.
