THE RACING TO SCHOOL REACHES 25 YEARS APPRENTICE HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) Permission was given for Baby Rover (IRE) to go early wearing a red hood to the start.
An enquiry was held to establish the reasons why there were members of the public crossing the track as a runner was going to post early.
The Clerk of the Course was interviewed and shown a recording of the incident.
Ms Needham’s explanation that there was a miscommunication between a member of the ground staff and a gate attendant about the runner, and that the issue had been rectified with extra radios being deployed to staff members around the exit to the parade ring, was noted.
The Starter reported that Running Cool (GB) was the subject of a third criteria failure.
Adrian Keatley was informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
Donagh Murphy, the rider of Running Cool (GB), drawn 9, was slow to remove the blindfold, resulting in his mount being slowly away.
Murphy’s explanation that the gelding put its head down as he attempted to remove the blind but was successful on the second attempt was noted.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching the final furlong involving Siviez (GB), unplaced, ridden by Owen Lewis; Soul Seeker (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Aiden Brookes and Jamie's Choice (GB), unplaced, ridden by Rhys Elliott.
Lewis was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he edged right-handed when not fully clear of JAMIE’S CHOICE causing Elliot to take a check when tightened for room.
Following the race, Amie Waugh reported that Baby Rover (IRE), unplaced, was denied a clear run approaching the final furlong.
Rhys Elliot reported that Jamie's Choice (GB), unplaced, stumbled shortly after the start and also suffered interference approaching the final furlong.
