Robert Tart, the rider of Azets (GB), drawn 10, was slow to remove the blindfold, resulting in his horse being slow to start.
The explanation from Tart that the gelding was fractious in the stalls and that the blind became caught thereby requiring two attempts to remove was noted.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line involving the winner, Fox Leicester (IRE), ridden by Rhys Clutterbuck, LENNY’S SPIRIT (FR), placed third, ridden by Robert Havlin, Too Shy Shy (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Angus Villiers, Golden Claim (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Neil Callan, and Doonbeg Farmer (IRE), placed sixth, ridden by Ellie MacKenzie.
After listening to the evidence and viewing recordings of the incident, the Stewards found that Fox Leicester (IRE) had initially started the interference by shifting left-handed intimidating LENNY’S SPIRIT (FR) off its intended line but were satisfied that the gelding was going away at the line with the official distance between the winner and Lenny's Spirit (FR) 1¼ lengths and a short head and ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
The interference was found to be accidental in that Fox Leicester (IRE) shifted left-handed before being quickly corrected by Clutterbuck, causing LENNY’S SPIRIT (FR) to shy away and in turn resulted in Golden Claim (GB), Doonbeg Farmer (IRE) and Too Shy Shy (IRE) to be crowded for room.
Following the race, Ellie MacKenzie reported that Doonbeg Farmer (IRE), which started favourite and finished sixth, was denied a clear run approaching the final furlong.
