Formscan By Donal Murphy - A switch to fences might bring out the best in DROP A THREAT. The winner of a point-to-point when in the care of Donnchadh Doyle, the Triple Threat seven-year-old has been disappointing since joining Willie Mullins. Well-supported and not beaten that far when seventh of 18 on his most recent start at Cork, it'll come as a surprise if he's not involved towards the business end. A son of the great Solerina and twice successful over flights, Faceman is the second choice. A runner-up on recent starts at Fairyhouse and Downpatrick respectively, Gordon Elliott's Gunnery Sergeant warrants the utmost respect, while Magic Day, Ira Hayes and Jumping Susie, who starts off for Declan Queally, are others for the shortlist in this weak affair.

We think he'll get better in time. I think he is still only a shell of a horse. I'm delighted and very grateful to the lads for sending me a nice quality horse like him. Everything happened kind of wrong for him today, he ran off the bend and missed the last, but he is tough. He is growing mad and he'll improve, but time will tell. John (Bowe) always picks out the races and once he is happy, I'm happy.

We were very, very disappointed after the first day. We went to Listowel thinking he'd win and we are still not sure what went wrong. It was very, very wet that day, it was over two and a half and he was quite keen for his first day at school. He didn't run that bad and if our expectations weren't so high we wouldn't have been disappointed. You kind of lose confidence then.

He is a gorgeous horse with a great attitude and does things really well. He travels nicely, settles and jumps well. Darragh was good and positive on him, that suits him, and he has won on both rides on the horse now. He has won twice now and will go up for winning today, but we'll try to find something similar again. It won't get any easier, but going up in trip might help him out too. The owner Sean McElroy isn't here today as it was a five-hour drive from where he lives. He is a good man and has a couple of horses in the yard.
