Paddy tries hard and with the bumpers at the moment, Willie (Mullins) is winning 95% of them so no lad gets a chance. I have plenty of horses at home, and some I shouldn't have as they're not much good, but they will give him plenty of experience. He was 17 the day before yesterday and got his license on his birthday and finished third on his first ride as a professional. Garry Cribbin is his agent and he recently went over to England to Charlie and Francesca Poste where he learned a lot. He did plenty pony racing, won the Dingle Derby and was the first Irish lad to win the Scottish Championship. I'm delighted for him.

I was worried about the ground, it was a wee bit slower than what his best would be on,. It needed to dry as much as it did. He's won on slower but to be at his best he needs quick ground. We've had that much rain all summer you wouldn't know what way the weather was going to be. We could have a dry autumn as we've had one of the wettest Augusts we've ever had. He's fresh and well so we'll keep him going if the weather lets us.

he had one go at the favourite although Eoin (Walsh, winning jockey) felt he struggled a bit on the ground. He felt it was heavy enough for him. He'd see out the two miles well and that was a big help to him today, he is probably a 2m4f horse really. I wasn't too happy when they omitted the two hurdles because essentially he is a jumper and those hurdles would have been to his benefit but he got away with it and we are delighted with that performance. Eoin just wasn't over happy with the way he travelled on that ground but he showed plenty of resolution to get the job done. His bumper form was strong - he didn't win one and was just a bit unlucky a couple of times. It's grand to win a hurdle.

Danny (Mullins) rode him the last day and when he came back in, he turned to the syndicate and said 'this is one I left behind me'. He said everywhere he went, he ran into trouble. We are after being very unlucky with him - one day a horse brought him out in Down Royal. Getting his ground is another thing. There was a 15lb turnaround with the favourite (Wing Back) today. They (Shark Hanlon Racing Club) are a great crowd. It is a big syndicate we have and this year I went back to get money off some and some pulled out, but all this crowd stayed with me. She ran well the last day after a long break after an injury. We thought on her work at home that she had improved a nice bit. We gave her a nice bit of a break again to maybe eradicate the bounce factor. We thought that was gone out of her anyway because she worked well a couple of times since. Obviously, when we saw Willie Mullins with an odds-on favourite (Mummy Derry) we thought there might be easier options, but the ground is lovely and safe and I'm glad she won.

I have been one of the lads’ biggest fans over the years with what they’ve done with all those good horses and, even yesterday, they had a horse (Glen Kiln) finish second in a Grade 1. I have been friends with them and been curious about how they’d done things all my life, so was delighted when Michael asked me to take this horse a couple of months ago. I’m very lucky to have him and not too many have one out of Solerina. Between their three really good horses Limestone Lad, Solerina and Sweet Kiln, they earned €1.8m in prize money which is incredible even at today's levels.
