Permission was given for both Duke Of Oxford (GB) and WHO’S GLEN (FR) to wear a red hood to the start.
Duke Of Oxford (GB), trained by Michael Bell spread a plate on the way to the start.
As the trainer had not indicated at declaration stage that the gelding should be withdrawn in the event of losing a shoe on the way to post, Duke Of Oxford (GB) ran without its right-hind shoe.
An enquiry was held to consider interference entering the first bend involving Caballo De Mar (IRE), placed second, ridden by Callum Shepherd, Divine Comedy (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Kaiya Fraser, and the winner, East India Dock (GB), ridden by Harry Davies.
Shepherd was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his horse to edge left-handed going into the bend when not sufficiently clear of Divine Comedy (IRE) which was briefly crowded for room resulting in that mare making brief contact with East India Dock (GB).
Approaching the winning post with two circuits to run, Morning Air (FR), unplaced, edged right-handed as the winner, East India Dock (GB) shifted slightly left-handed resulting in Hot Fuss (IRE), unplaced, becoming briefly tightened for room and its rider having to take a precautionary check, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of East India Dock (GB).
