P.A. Harnett, rider of South Island, trained by Donnacha Aidan O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount became unbalanced rounding the home bend
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the straight involving South Island, ridden by P.A. Harnett, placed sixth, and Utmost Good Faith (GB), ridden by J.M. Sheridan, unplaced, where it appeared Utmost Good Faith got tight for room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. P.A. Harnett said he went for a gap and didn't see the horse on his inner. J.M. Sheridan said he received pressure from his outer when back pedaling
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found P.A. Harnett was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his record in this regard (second offence), the Raceday Stewards suspended him for four racedays.
