Formscan By Shane Redmond - HOOVES YOUR DADDY (7) can't be far off a breakthrough success. A wide draw didn't help her chances here three weeks ago and but she ran well when coming from the back of the field to take fourth place. From a far more favourable stall, and with an extra furlong to cover, perhaps she'll get closer now and can turn things around with Una Matata who was narrowly ahead of her last time. The latter was a beaten favourite here last week but is still one for ever shortlist along with Polanco who also makes a quick return to action after arguably a career-best effort here last Friday and Jasmine Affanalis who was a winner in very different conditions at Killarney at the beginning of last month.

she's tough and was a cheap filly, so I’m delighted for her, Adam (Caffrey) and the lads (Mark Devlin, Mark McGuckin & Claire Wylie). She has won three here for us this winter, has been placed a few times and it is a great to get fillies like that - it keeps things ticking over. Adam said she might have a little bit in hand still. I've no real plans for her, she will keep plugging away and could come back here for finals' day or we could go across the water with her. We'll give her a little bit of an easy week because she has had two races on the trot.

James Gormley, a friend of mine in Dubai, and his family bred her and they've had fun (being involved in the A Touch Of Leather Syndicate) with her. She is good in that grade. I'm delighted for Sam, who we've known since before he was a jockey and I'm glad to help him in the apprentice jockeys' title. I must say, and in fairness to Sam, that he had only a small saddle claiming off top-weight today, so it would be a big achievement if he were to become champion. Exceeding is what he is although I want to get him up in the handicap, as he’s very lowly rated and is probably better than his mark. I have a few girl apprentices who haven’t ridden yet so I want to get him rated higher, and not suspended from running, so they can have a few spins on him. He’s also actually worth having as a lead horse, as he’s very good to lead the two-year-olds. He’s actually better than what he lets on he is!. The seven furlongs today definitely helped, he looked like he needed every bit of it there. I’d say an ease in the ground is a help to him too.

Siobhan gave him a good ride and knew what she was doing before she went out. She was keeping on the fresher ground. She’s a good lassie and horses run for her. The last day in Navan, he was only beaten seven-and-a-half lengths and had got stopped a few times and I thought coming here, if there was a little ease in the ground, it would suit him. I’m delighted for the two boys (owners Flanagan and Tighe) as it’s the first time they’ve been in a horse and they only have him about three months.
