Formscan By Tom Weekes - CITY ISLAND was a very good winner of the Ballymore Novices Hurdle at Cheltenham in March and looks good enough to follow up here. He beat subsequent Aintree Grade 1 winner and high class prospect Champ when winning at Cheltenham and CITY ISAND now comes here a fresh horse following a 51 day racing break. Reserve Tank seemingly arrived from left-field in recent months and while he bypassed Cheltenham in favour of narrowly winning a novice hurdle at Kempton the same week, he then caused a 20/1 surprise when winning a Grade 1 hurdle at Aintree at this trip last month. Interestingly there is a form-line involving Ballymore fourth-placed Brewin'upastorm, beaten 5.75L by City Island, which was just 3.25L behind Reserve Tank at Aintree, suggesting there may be little between both CITY ISLAND and Reserve Tank today. CITY ISLAND does however have the benefit of having had a recent mini-break though. Battleoverdoyen was pulled in the Cheltenham race but had previously beaten Sams Profile (which finished fifth at Cheltenham) to win a Grade 1 at Naas in January and clearly is on a retrieval mission today. Speaking of retrieval missions, Tornado Flyer is on his own journey today having flopped badly when pulling up on his latest start in January. He did look a smart type early in the season but his absent since January is a worry. Dommage Pour Toi beat Wednesday's winner Zero Ten in a Grade 2 at Fairyhouse latest and might be capable of getting involved were he to maintain progression while Royal Rendezvous is long absent since his impressive maiden hurdle win and is probably best watched.
