He showed good pace throughout when runner-up over six at Cork and again filled second spot behind Are We Dreaming at Bellewstown last month. The winner has followed up in a Curragh handicap and is rated in the mid 80s. Ultramarine has an inflated rating chiefly by virtue of his fourth in the Group 1 National Stakes and has failed to score at cramped odds since in maidens. He travels well but finds little at the business end and it will be interesting to how he fares at this trip. Karakoul, narrowly denied by Piz Badile in a Killarney mile maiden last year, also drops right down in distance.
