Formscan By Gary Carson - UN DE SCEAUX may have just paid the price for his enthusiasm at Cheltenham and couldn't repeat his victory of 12 months previous in the Ryanair. He loves soft ground but the combination of running freely and the two-and-a-half trip in those testing conditions just proved beyond him then. Back on home soil he should prove hard to beat here. Coney Island is a fascinating rival in this and on his A-game he'd be a big threat. He produced an inexplicably poor show at Ascot in February having made a winning return in such good style at the same venue in December. Obviously he gets further than this but has the gears to operate at this trip too and could put it up to Un De Sceaux. Doctor Phoenix has had a terrific season and chased home another keen front-running Mullins horse in Great Field at Navan last time. He takes a step up in trip now and that may even benefit him given the way he has finished off his races over two miles.
