Formscan By Tom Weekes - King of the Claimers ROCKY’S HOWYA has found another excellent opportunity and should take all the beating. Champion Point-to-Pointer for the 2022/2023 season, he switched back to hurdling just November and has really found his niche in this grade. The selection disappointed over fences here last month but previously had scored a third claimer success in May and now contests an ordinary contest. Howdoyalikeherhome is rated 1lb higher but concedes 3lb to the selection and has been well beaten in two recent chases. Five-time winner Tullyveery Lad was badly hampered at an early stage when finishing well held recently and has some mileage left, being a ten-year-old.

He has been nothing but genuine since we got him and is one of the best in my yard. He ran well here at the festival over a shorter trip when he stayed on great and in fairness to Sean O'Keeffe (jockey then), he said to step him up half-a-mile and he was spot on. It was my fault to run him in his first handicap chase at Listowel the last day, which was too much of an ask, and he needs to be minded a bit. He came out of a ThoroughBid Sale and wasn't overly dear (£14,000), so we're delighted with him. Owen O'Connor and Martin Baker own him. I thought he'd run well going to Wexford the last day when he was in against nice novices, but it is just funny the way the 'levels' work. He was rated nicely for that Wexford race but couldn't compete and was dropping back down today. A big effort goes in at home in keeping him right, he goes swimming and has been kept sweet. He is hard to place as he is old and rated high enough, but there are a couple of races coming up for him. We thought he might win this race last year. He was just unlucky that day, he made a bad mistake and gave young Paddy Hanlon no chance. It was just one of those things. He is probably getting older and is probably not as quick as he once was. Today, everything was happening too quick. I knew if he could get in among them that all he was going to do was come home. I was afraid they might get away from him. Once he started passing one or two coming up the hill he got competitive. I knew before turning in that he was going to come home, I was kind of hopeful enough. 2m6f is probably his minimum, he probably wants at least three miles. He loves good ground. He is a right horse and has been a right servant. If you had a yard full of him, you'd be flying. The ground was very watered the last day at Wexford, and I don't think he was enjoying jumping on the loose ground. He jumped better today but he's just not the quickest to jump anyway. He is safe but he bumped into one the last day for sure. It's a grand pot to win and he won here at the festival last year as well.
