Formscan By Tom Weekes - Grade 1 winning hurdlers LAURINA and Minella Indo do battle in a cracking beginners chase with LAURINA the pick. LAURINA was a high class hurdler, winning at Listed, Grade 3 , 2 and 1 levels, including a win in the Mares' Novice Hurdle at Cheltenham. She was a big fancy for the Champion Hurdle last March and while she ultimately didn't perform to expectations, she nonetheless ran a solid enough race in defeat. She is a big mare whose best hurdles form has been at this trip on heavy ground and fences could well prove the making of her. Minella Indo progressed very well to win the Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdle at Cheltenham and the Irish Daily Mirror Hurdle at Punchestown. Those Grade 1 wins were gained on good to soft ground conditions and while he might be ok on heavy, it is a small concern and today's trip, more notably, is as sharp as he appreciates, being a stout stayer. Small Farm did beat Minella Indo to win a maiden hurdle at Limerick last Christmas over today's trip but Small Farm capped his season with a struggling effort at Punchestown in May and this should be beyond him. School Boy Hours was pulled up behind Minella Indo at Punchestown and should also struggle to win.
