Going - Hurdle/Bumper: Soft (soft to heavy places). Chase: Yielding to Soft. Fine

Formscan By Alan Magee - TALBOT ROAD won his maiden hurdle on this day 12 months ago and has always looked the type to excel over fences. The lightly-raced Old Vic gelding is expected to progress from a promising third to Bright New Dawn on his reappearance at Punchestown earlier this month. The winner is held in good regard and tackles Grade 1 company in the Topaz Novice Chase here on Sunday. Si C’etait Vrai has achieved more to date than the selection both over hurdles and fences but may lack the same scope for improvement, although his second to Morning Assembly at Punchestown back in October reads very well. Stablemate Minsk hasn’t looked a natural jumper over fences so far but Djakadam, who won twice in juvenile hurdles last term, has always been regarded as a chaser in the making and should prove a danger to all. Grey Monk and Caolaneoin are others that should be winning over fences in time.
