Formscan By Donal Murphy - Owner Barry Connell loves to have winners at his local track at Christmas, and his VOLVALIEN might be the one to side with here. The Philip Fenton trained French bred gelding ran with credit on his debut at Fairyhouse earlier this month, finishing sixth to stable mate Value At Risk. He is sure to come on plenty for that experience, and he should give a good account of himself in this open looking contest. Silver Concorde and On Your Eoin both have good form to their respective names, however they have long absences to overcome. The former is trained by Dermot Weld, and he hasn't been seen since the Galway Festival of 2012. He ran a cracker on his debut over the course and distance in January of the same year, when he finished third to Jezki and Ned Buntline, and if he can recapture that form he will go close here under Derek O'Connor. On Your Eoin has been out of action for even longer, with his last and only run coming in a point-to-point at Maralin in April of 2011. He won there for Willie Codd, and was subsequently purchased by his current trainer, Noel Meade, for %A355,000 at Brightwells. He had Clondaw Warrior and Owega Star behind him in the point-to-point win, and they have since won ten races between them on the track. This son of Brian Boru has obviously had problems to have been out for so long, but it will be interesting to see if he can build on the promise he showed when winning his 'point'. King Leon put in an improved effort last time out at Fairyhouse and he looks to have each-way claims, while Rough Copy is an interesting newcomer for James Nash with Katie Walsh booked to ride.
