Formscan By Michael Graham - JACOB'S LADDER will relish testing conditions and is taken to follow up on a valuable handicap chase success in Leopardstown at the start of the month. He was notably strong in the closing stages of that contest in drawing five-lengths clear, and this is a good trip for him. Lovely Hurling was Grade One-placed over flights and although he was beaten a fair way into second in two beginners' chases, the winners of those races are classy sorts so he should be a contender. Port Joulain made all to score in a beginners' chase at Fairyhouse and represents strong connections on this step up in class. Willie Mullins has won three of the last four renewals of this race.

Quotes on Intense Approach (GB)
It has been painful! Going from his bumper wins and the way he works at home, it has been a calamity. He is a work-in-progress regarding his jumping. He has been very slow to learn and Ger Fox schooled him at the weekend and Ger couldn't believe how he hadn't got the hang of it. When he left him alone at a hurdle, he still needs a lot of help. It is a mental thing with him and hopefully he is switched on now. I told Alex to be very definite with what he wanted him to do at each hurdle - either to go short or to go long. It will come and that might boost his confidence. He has the engine there if he put it all together that he could turn into a really nice horse, but it is great to get that over with. After Intense Approach (GB) finished 1st at Downpatrick on Mon, 26th Aug 2024 2m 5f Maiden Hurdle Good

Quotes on Jacob's Ladder (IRE)
We were very happy with his run in Punchestown the last day. I was a bit worried about the ground being so soft but I’m happy, it was a good performance. I was happy the whole way, he looked comfortable the whole way. Jack got him in a lovely rhythm. I’d imagine he’ll go straight now for a handicap at Cheltenham, all being well. After Jacob's Ladder (IRE) finished 1st at Leopardstown on Mon, 2nd Feb 2026 2m 1f Hcap Chase Heavy

Quotes on Port Joulain (FR)
At last he’s improving, that fella. He’s probably not the simplest horse to ride, he’s very fussy with his mouth and we might try and sort that out,. Paul said when he got down and rode him he went straight for him and he was happy but he has a very tender mouth. He’ll possibly be better going left-handed. I don’t know where we’ll go, he might be more Fairyhouse/Punchestown but they are two right-handed tracks. I probably see him more as a chaser. He could make the top grade as a chaser, rather than a novice hurdler. If we do a bit of work on getting his head carriage right, it could improve him a good bit. After Port Joulain (FR) finished 1st at Punchestown on Mon, 27th Jan 2025 2m 3f Maiden Hurdle Heavy
