Formscan - BRENTFORD HOPE won in handicap company at Haydock and was turned out a week later to pick up valuable prize money when third to The New Lion in an unsatisfactory renewal of the International at Cheltenham. Connections will have been relieved that the handicapper left him alone and a 4lb rise for Haydock appears to be more than fair. Melon's third at Cheltenham in December gives him every chance, while there was an excuse for Doctor Blue's Doncaster disappointment but he did show a darker side to his nature at Exeter last week.
