Formscan By Gary Carson - CHAMPAGNE FEVER wasn't right after his run at Naas and it was no surprise to find that out after he folded very tamely. Last season's Cheltenham bumper winner was having his third start over hurdles having won a small race on his debut at Cork before finishing second to Jezki in the Royal Bond. Subsequent events having shown that run to be top-class and it was noted that connections felt the winner may just have gotten the run of the race then. There is no doubt that at his best Champagne Fever is a top notch performer. Waaheb also had to play second fiddle to Jezki here over Christmas and was beaten a good bit further than the selection. He should have the measure again of Bright New Dawn, who was back in third then. Minsk is an interesting one. The desperate ground at Naas last time was against him and he travelled best of all in the Royal Bond before fading in the closing stages. If the ground continues to dry out it would be in his favour.
