Formscan By Alan Magee - BALLYBURN looks the one to beat. The point-to-point winner showed smart form in bumpers last season scoring twice at Punchestown and tasted defeat for the first time when reappearing over hurdles behind the well-regarded Firefox at Fairyhouse. The Flemensfirth gelding was well suited by a step up to 2m4f when slamming subsequent winner Cleatus Poolaw by 25 lengths here at Christmas and hopefully dropping back in trip won’t inconvenience him too much. Slade Steel is another exciting novice moving back down in distance following a Grade 2 win at Navan, while Farren Glory is already a Grade 1 winner and was travelling well when falling two out at Aintree last time. The latter’s stablemate King Of Kingsfield appreciated a more patient ride when impressive in a maiden here last time and the form has been boosted since.
