Formscan By Tom Weekes - Cheltenham Gold Cup favourite PRESENTING PERCY makes his long awaited reappearance and can follow up last year's success in this race, despite obvious concerns around the lack of a recent run. He had more in his favour coming here last year as he had the benefit of three previous outings and today carries a 5lbs Grade 2 winners' penalty on his seasonal reappearance. However he is a proven high class hurdler and chaser and with room to become top class in the coming months, connections will surely be hoping to win today's race ahead of possibly one further chase prep run before Cheltenham. Bapaume is probably Willie Mullins' first-string, given he is partnered by Jockeys' Championship leader Paul Townend, and given he has shown some smart form on occasions. Bapaume was a Grade 2 winner at Autueil last June and while he was well held on his latest starts behind Apple's Jade in Grade 1s, does come here fit and proven on soft ground. Limini is the top adjusted rated runner in the race, receiving so much weight, and could play her part given what she achieved prior missing the 2017/18 season. Most of her form is on a sound surface but she has shown good form on heavy in the past and while her recent form is possibly not as useful as it once was, she is still capable and should place. Ruby Walsh's mount Coquin Mans is rated 6lbs higher than Bapaume but has been a little in-and-out. He likes easy ground and while the lack of a recent outing is not necessarily a problem coming from his yard, he did pull up on his most recent outing at Autueil in May which is clearly a concern. Darasso ran a very solid race on his Irish debut on new year's eve, when giving Bachasson 8lbs, and could play his part today, give he was also a useful performer in his native France and being a proven soft ground performer at this sort of trip.
