Formscan By Tom Weekes - MR DIABLO is a hopeful pick in a competitive renewal. MR DIABLO missed the 2017/18 season through injury but seems to have recaptured his old sparkle in recent months and while he failed to win from today's mark at Navan latest, that was over a shorter trip to his good runner-up finish in the Troytown Chase at the venue in November. The form of that Troytown Chase now looks smart with winner Tout Est Permis Ryanair Chase/Gold Cup bound and the return to soft ground shouldn't inconvenience MR DIABLO, who has a light weight again today. The rain may have arrived just in time for Up For Review's preparation and he could prove best of Willie Mullins' runners. He looked an exciting horse on occasions in the past (notably when impressively winning a Grade 2 hurdle at Punchestown in December 2015) and while injuries have interrupted his career, he seemed to show some of his old ability when winning an ordinary chase at Killarney last May and will be ideally suited to this today's trip and ground. Stablemate Invitation Only is another who will be well suited by conditions but was well held on his reappearance run at Tramore recently. It is mildly worrying he missed an engagement (due to fast ground) in a Grade 2 contest at Thurles on Sunday, suggesting connections hadn't exclusively had this race in mind for him. Monbeg Notorious won last year's renewal from MR DIABLO's mark of 137 but today competes from 152 having won a Grade 2 chase on his next start. However his second place finish in a Grade 1 at Punchestown reads worse than the bare figures (Al Boum Photo took the wrong course) and he also lacks a recent outing. Some Neck won a Grade 2 at Punchestown in November and while today's rider claims 5lbs, he has been deserted by Mullins' top jockeys while stablemate and Aintree Grand National runner-up Pleasant Company should strip fitter for his reappearance run recently but has plenty weight today. Mall Dini is still a maiden chaser but has solid bits of chase form to his name and can get involved.
