Formscan By Tom Weekes - THE BIG DOG is a horse with potential and might get off the mark over jumps here. He was a useful bumper type and while well held on his hurdles debut in a Graded race at Cork in December, he ran a very solid race when beaten a head by Castlebawn West at Leopardstown over Christmas. The form of that race has yet to be proven at a high level but it was nonetheless a fine effort and he has trip and ground in his favour today, and receives a useful 2lbs from chief rival Voix Des Tiep today. Voix Des Tiep is himself a capable type and while he was beaten by a lesser-fancied stablemate at Limerick over Christmas, there was certainly no disgrace in his neck defeat as he gave the winner 13lbs then. He is also likely to progress from that effort and also has trip and ground in his favour. Kalum River has already contested four hurdle races and while he may lack the scope for improvement as both THE BIG DOG and Voix Des Tiep, he nonetheless receives weight from both and comes here fit and well and sure to run a solid race. Jeremys Dream has run well on her last two hurdle outings but may need to improve to win while stablemate Rakhine State is also fairly capable but might also need to improve to score.
