Formscan By Alan Magee - BAJAN EXCELL would have gone close but for being badly hampered at the penultimate flight when third to Pakens Rock at Thurles last time and is fancied to regain the winning thread off a 2lb higher mark. Gavin Cromwell’s charge previously beat Instant Return by a length and a half with Cafe Con Leche held in third in a maiden over this course and distance on St Stephen’s Day. Politicise’s form ties in with the selection as he was just denied a neck by Instant Return at Punchestown earlier this month. The Ado McGuinness-trained gelding also showed promise in maidens at Cork and Leopardstown and is a serious threat on his handicap debut. Nobel Joshua joined Gordon Elliott after landing a claimer at Fairyhouse last summer and was noted making some late progress when switched to handicap company at Punchestown last time.
