Formscan By Alan Magee - The Rebel Deise Syndicate, a group headed by Conor Counihan who holds the rare distinction of being an All-Ireland winner both as a player and manager with the Cork Football team, were out in force to celebrate the victory of FRERE FONTAINE over this course and distance at Christmas. The Terence O’Brien-trained gelding, just denied previously at Thurles, is on a nice upward curve and can defy a 9lb rise for that convincing six lengths verdict over Isabel’s Gold. Fox Le Bel caught the eye when keeping on late on his handicap debut at Clonmel and subsequently went off a strong favourite when no match for the impressive Abraham at Naas. He still rates a threat along with Difficult Decision who overcame a long lay-off to win at Clonmel earlier this month.
