FormscanBy Eamonn Murphy - I seem to remember when Gordon Elliott registered a treble at Navan on February 19th that he also mentioned a couple of four-year-olds that won for the yard on the day in the point-to-point fields. If memory serves correctly he remarked that RAPID ESCAPE (Tinahely winner) and The Big Lense (Cragmore victor) were a couple to look forward to.Rapid Escape's home reputation was mirrored by the betting for his 'point.'The attractive chestnut went off a 4/7 shot in the hands of Jamie Codd for a maiden. He duly impressed when eclipsing Henry's Joy by ten lengths.Rapid Escape was racing for owner Chris Donnelly at that stage, and a stable representative revealed in the aftermath that the youngster is very straightforward and high on the list of the four-year-olds housed at Cullentra House Stables. It was no surprise then when the Elliott runner was offered for sale at the Tattersalls Ireland Cheltenham sale, that he was retained by the leading yard of the campaign.Gigginstown House Stud acquired Rapid Escape for 240,000 pounds, and they'll no doubt be hoping to quickly recoup a portion of that purchase price here.Jamie Codd has chosen to retain the partnership in this hugely competitive two miler, ahead of another Gigginstown and Elliott former 'pointer,'Valdieu, the mount of Lisa O'Neill here.Patrick Mullins continues his quest to overhaul Codd in the race to be champion amateur as he teams up with Joseph O'Brien on the now J P McManus-owned course and distance winner Early Doors. That's intriguing when one considers that Willie Mullins sends first timer Hollowgraphic (Katie Walsh up) into battle. This Ballylinch Stud contender has a lot going for him on paper.
Of which the winner will receive E60,000, the second E20,000, the third E10,000, the fourth E5,000, the fifth E3,000 and thesixth E2,000 An I.N.H. flat race for four and five yrs old only that have not won a *race other than one, two or three I.N.H. flat races.
