Formscan By Donal Murphy - GREY MONK was sold for just €350 as a foal, but after impressively winning at Largy in April of last year, the son of Alderbrook was purchased by Ann %26 Alan Potts for €210,000 at the Goffs Punchestown NH Sale, just five days after winning his point-to-point for Denis Murphy. He ran a cracker on his racecourse debut on St Stephen's Day to finish a close up third to Ned Buntline and Urano and with that experience under his belt, he can be expected to win this. The Dermot Weld trained Pacelli Road ran well on his hurdling debut at Gowran in December but then disappointed on his next start at Cork. He will need to recapture Gowran form if he is to strongly challenge here. Un Beau Roman was very disappointing on his debut at Tramore on New Year's Day but the French bred gelding is surely better than that and an improved performance can be expected with Ruby Walsh in the saddle.
