Elliott & Kennedy take the first up north
It was a dramatic start, but he was in a lovely position. Turning for home, Jack obviously picked off the horse (Baila Conmigo) that was leading him up the hill. We knew he would stay really well. He had a bit of time off, but he has built on every run so far this season and it is lovely to see him do that because he deserved it. He had a handicap mark (105), but it was nice to go back and try and win a maiden with him because we were confident he was capable of doing that.
Rothwell's Flight lands another prize
Blinkers worked and he won well the last day at Sligo,. He got a big penalty and he has backed it up - good ride. For sale now. He'll be a nice horse over fences, but the owners (Phidelma Elvin and Donal Keane) are keen to sell and keep moving.
Might Be is The One for Andy Mc
She's not winning out of turn - we thought she won in Limerick at Christmas last year and it turned out in the photo-finish that we were beaten,. She had been good and consistent last year. She went straight from point-to-pointing to racing, so perhaps the break has done her well. She was placed four times last season, she was running well, but maybe she has come back a little bit better. She's a lovely, sweet filly, so delighted for the owners (O'Rourke Construction Ltd) that she has got her head in front. We might go chasing straight away with her. She was (professional when she took it up) - she can be a little bit keen at home, so Conor got a little bit of cover and dropped down the inner and she settled very nicely for him. She jumped brilliantly for him, and we said that she is not short of a bit of toe, so I said to leave it until the back of the last. He timed it exactly for that.
Noel Kelly lands a touch at Downpatrick
He (Torrens) left it sharp for us!. She is what she is, she's a low-grade horse. She did the job in a low-graded race. Probably the Sligo race, she came there to finish third or fourth, blew up a wee bit in the last furlong or so. She gives a lot of problems at home, but we sorted out all her problems. That was a poor race, to be fair, but you still have to win poor races. It is hard to win a race in Ireland. We half-fancied her after the last day. She's still a young mare and there's still a bit of a future in the whole show. Hopefully, she will go on and try and get another wee win or two.
