She had a nice run in Naas when she was a little keen early and didn't see out the mile, although I don't see any problems with her getting that trip when she settles. Nathan said she was keen again today and that it took him a while to get cover for her. It was softer than ideal for her, but she handled it well and saw out the distance. She is a typical Ghaiyyath who knows how to gallop and run. We'll see what the handicapper gives her, and I have her leased from her breeders Deer Forest Stud, so we'll see if the owners want to sell her.

She is her own worst enemy as she misses the break and missed it again today. She has run well in some good maidens, and it is great to a win with her as she isn't a bad filly. The ground was too quick for her the last day and she likes that ground, so we were happy to see the rain. She is a good filly who could get black type on soft ground. Maurice (Ahern) is a retired sheriff from Nenagh and owns her in partnership with a Tipperary syndicate.

he had run a little better than I expected here last week so I was delighted that this race came up, as it stood out as suiting him with the furlong extra. I wasn’t overly worried about today’s ground and he coped with it. I’d like to give much thanks to Henry and Dymphna Holdcroft and Tony McLoughlin, who are the owners and are great supporters. We bought this horse for 4,000gns so it is great when it worked out and we got a few issues sorted last year. He seems more comfortable and relaxed going racing now. Nicola is learning a lot in Ger Lyons’, she is in there every morning and loves it down there. She has gone fast enough in getting to her 5lb claim and there are a lot of good apprentices out there, so it had become very competitive. As long as she is enjoying it and if that’s what she wants to do, we’ll support her and she is a big asset to me.

It is grand to win a local race, and the ground came up right. I thought he was a bit flat during the week so I wasn't going to run him, but the ground was in his favour and everything else was good. He is what he is and if he gets half-left alone (by the handicapper), he might win another one somewhere along the line. We might have Listowel in mind in September too.
