Permission was given for Battle Apple (GB) and Causing Problems (IRE) to both wear a red hood to post.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong, involving Captain Fox (IRE), placed third, ridden by Finley Marsh and Beccadelli (GB), placed fourth, ridden by William Buick.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Captain Fox (IRE)’s placing as the interference was minimal, with no apparent loss of momentum or ground, and after the incident Beccadelli (GB) had headed Captain Fox (IRE) before Captain Fox (IRE) rallied and regained third place.
Therefore, the Stewards ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
The interference was found to be accidental as, Marsh’s mount had lugged quickly right-handed brushing Buick’s mount.
Following the race, Pat Cosgrave reported that Causing Problems (IRE), placed sixth, ran too free.
