THE GOLWG GWENDRAETH HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 5) Ralph Beckett had obtained prior permission from the BHA to run The Stone Power (GB) partially shod.
At the three-furlong marker, Mountain Of Light (GB), placed second, moved left-handed at the same time as the winner, Cypriot Diaspora (GB), moved right-handed, causing them to make slight contact.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Cypriot Diaspora (GB).
The winner, Cypriot Diaspora (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Ffos Las on 21 August 2026, where the mare finished fourth of seven runners, beaten by 7 ½ lengths.
The representative of Rod Millman’s explanation that the mare had appreciated the slower surface described as Good, which changed to Good to Soft following the race, was noted.
Cypriot Diaspora (GB) was routine tested.
The performance of Lerwick (GB) which finished seventh of eight runners, beaten 13 ¾ lengths, was considered.
Mark Loughnane’s explanation that the gelding was unsuited by the ground described as Good, which changed to Good to Soft following the race, and would prefer a faster surface, was noted.
Following the race, David Probert reported that Nebbia (GB), unplaced, was never travelling; the representative of Hughie Morrison reported that the filly was unsuited by the ground described as Good, which changed to Good to Soft following the race.
