An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final ½ furlong involving the winner, Mamma Maria (GB), ridden by Tom Marquand and MUM’S ANGEL (IRE), placed second, ridden by Finley Marsh.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved the placing of Mamma Maria (GB) as the filly had shifted left-handed making contact with MUM’S ANGEL (IRE), briefly unbalancing the gelding which was also moved off its intended line, before it continued to finish strongly over the concluding stages to be beaten by a nose margin.
The placings were revised as follows: First - MUM’S ANGEL (IRE); Second – Mamma Maria (GB); Third – Draupnir (GB); and Fourth - Sharma D'amour (GB).
The incident was found to be accidental as Mamma Maria (GB) shifted quickly left-handed away from the whip, thereby causing interference to Mum's Angel (IRE).
