Endless Talking Strikes for Quickfire Cromwell & Donoghue Double
Magnifique makes winning start for Kelly
I’m delighted to have her. I’m very grateful that the lads, the Dillon Quirke syndicate, sent her to me,. She came from Paul Kiely’s and came in great nick. We got the rub of the green today and she was game. I’m delighted for the lads, it’s unfortunate for Cian who was due to ride her but Danny Gilligan did a great job. He sat where he was comfortable, let her find her feet and came home well. She’ll probably stay a bit further. She works better than 105 horse. We have her about six weeks and I said she’ll either bring it to the course or she won’t. If you were a backing man you’d be backing her on her work, but I don’t back horses. You don’t know with horses that are after being in a couple of yards. I’m gutted for Cian but delighted for him at the same time as he’s part of the syndicate. He owns the mare and leased her out.
Poetic Twist Continues Fine Form for Sam Ewing and Gordon Elliott
Zolpharine strikes again for Ryan
It wasn’t before time that he got going, he won his maiden hurdle first time,. He had a good run in a bumper here as well, when he was second to one of Willie Mullins’ (Caman Eileen). I don’t know if he’ll run again tomorrow, we’ll see. It might be a bit soon. He’s a grand horse for the summer. He’s a smasher. It took us so long to get him right, he got a fall schooling after he won his maiden hurdle. There was lots of chiropracty. Mark Slevin did a great job, we fired his palate and tidied him up as best we could. He looks progressive now, even though he’s an eight-year-old. If we pulled him out tomorrow he could win again!. He’s way better over fences, he’s tricky over hurdles but he’s putting it together now.
Splashing Out Lands Victory in Tramore for Griffin
She enjoyed herself out in front and I’m delighted to get that with her. It’s coming towards the end of her season but they did a lovely job with the ground here and we were able to run on it. We just decided to change things up with her. She has been frustrating to train, she’s had a few races won and kind of snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. She did it well there and maybe with more positive tactics there might be another one in her. They are doing a good job of watering so we’ll keep an eye on the ground. She’s fit and well, and she’s fresh as she hasn’t had a hard season. She might appear out again.
