An enquiry was held to establish the reason why the third panel of the second last hurdle was down as the runners approached on the final circuit, having being knocked down on the first circuit.
The Clerk of The Course, Head Groundsman and the Racecourse Executive were all interviewed.
The Clerk of The Course explained that ground staff had attended to the fallen panel however, as the horses rounded the bend into the home straight the panel once again fell leaving the ground staff with insufficient time to safely reposition the panel for a second time or to implement the bypass procedure.
The head groundsman added that an examination of the panel after the race, found the panel had been damaged, thus the reason for it not staying erect.
The Stewards ordered a report to be forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority for further consideration.
