The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident turning into the home straight involving Avoca Woods (GB), ridden by L.T. McAteer, and Glyfada, ridden by C.D. Hayes. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. L.T
McAteer stated that he received some contact from his inside. C.D. Hayes stated that his mount switched leads on the point of the bend and shifted left causing him to make contact with the horse on his outside. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found C.D. Hayes was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his clean record in this regard the Raceday Stewards suspended him for two racedays
L.T. McAteer, rider of Avoca Woods (GB), trained by Jack Foley, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount did not handle the ground.
