Queally's Dahoma lands dramatic opener at Clonmel
It was almost like Red Marauder's Grand National! This horse had so much experience in handicaps and had gone around in front in schooling races, so I was pretty sure he'd be honest enough to face the challenge of leading. He was a little sick last winter, he is only four and I think he might be better going left-handed. He is by Wooded, so I think he is a fast-ground two-miler and, leaving home, I had said to my father (Declan) that I thought today's race would suit. It was an ordinary race but I think there will be more to come and he can campaign away in 0-100s, as his mark probably won't change. . The nine-member syndicate are a great bunch of lads and include my mother's first cousin Liam Keating, who runs a bike-rental business on the Waterford Greenway in Kilmacthomas. They had no luck from five previous horses but stuck with it, and today, Liam came in asking where was the winners' enclosure!
Timurshah wins at 20/1 on first start for Melia
That's first run for me and I just freshened him up, that's all. I was hoping for a nice run out of him. Michelle Connolly rang me to take a few horses, so this is great. I have eight in training and have plenty of spare stables. . I'm 30, based in Monasterevin and have my license about two years. I do my own thing in the yard, so am learning from my own mistakes.
One-eyed horse scores for two-horse trainer
Getaway Henry ran no race the last day at Limerick which we couldn’t understand, but he only has one eye and was on the inside, so I think he was doing nothing at all. He lost his (off) eye as a foal out in the field and my sister Christina, who bred him, tips away with him, but he ran so badly the last day that she didn’t come today!. We have two horses and the other one is a half-sister Pixie Hill, who runs tomorrow at Punchestown. We are based near Freemount in north Cork and use Alex Ott’s gallops a lot and also Eugene O’Sullivan’s. I previously worked for Gerry Cully and Michael Hourigan and we are farming so this is a hobby. Please God this fella can win again.

Flying Finegan scores on Cheltenham runner-up Thecompanysergeant
Doyle at the double on Global Skies
He had a good run here the last day but jumped a little disappointingly then. His jumping was very slick today and he got the job done nicely. That previous run was his first time racing in a handicap on good ground, which caught him out a bit, but he had the experience today. It is great for Charlie Doocey, from Mayo but living in the UK, and it is his first horse with us.
Smith misses another winner as Kelly fills in for Curling
. I had ridden work for him during the winter and he had previously given me a ride which didn't work out last Christmas, so it is nice to repay him with a winner. She had fallen (when leading at the last) in Thurles last year and she isn't overly big, but the lads told me that she was good and tough.
