Winner Weegeebear claimed at Dundalk
I rode him over five (furlongs) here not too long ago when he missed the break completely and never got into the race. Today, the race worked out perfect for him. I dropped him in, took my time, they went hard out in front and they set the race up for me really. We were a little bit off the bridle turning in when I got a thump into him, and he got going, picked up and did it well. Once he is on a going day, he's a genuine little horse. He has plenty of ability, he doesn't lack that way.
Amemri completes Dundalk hat-trick
she is progressive, is a grand filly and she keeps my missus (owner Melanie Marnane) happy!. Amemri is great to have around the yard: she is a big, strong filly and just has developed well. She has got bigger and stronger. We liked her as a two-year-old and she just disappointed us, then she came back as a three-year-old and won a few. She was an online sale (in December 2023) but wasn't making much, so we brought her back. she is in the finals’ day here, so hopefully she will come back for that and she actually has good form on the turf as well. We haven't run her much on it and she has won in Listowel and Limerick but doesn't want extremes of going. She is always consistent anyway and that is all you really want from them.
Narrow win for Velvet Skies
he was hitting the goalpost here and the last day he missed the break a bit. He came out well today. Hopefully, we have got the secret of him now and it will be onwards and upwards.
Paddy Smullen bags a winner, as Weld's bond endures
Dromore Glory scores for Burns and Flynn
he got a lovely ride and Nicola was great value for that 7lb claim in that race (for apprentices who have not ridden 15 winners). Dromore Glory likes it up here and probably isn’t as good on the turf. If the handicapper leaves him at 50 on the turf, he might just get through one! His all-weather form is definitely a lot better. I don't know if there is a race on finals night as he will probably go up too much to get into the 0-65 bracket.
Royal Ascot-winner Valiant Force stays the course
I’m very impressed with that, he put it to bed very early. It was a fact-finding mission for him today, but we thought with pedigree that he is bred to be a miler. It gives us great options, more options over the summer. We have no real plans, everything is opening up for us - six, seven or eight furlongs.
Impressive newcomer gives Amo a Dundalk double
we put him in at the deep end, but he didn't let us down. We knew Mount Kilimanjaro was the one to beat, and was going to be tough to beat, but we were happy to come and take him on. He is a gorgeous looker and has a beautiful temperament. He's a beautiful horse and has a beautiful way of racing: his temperament is second to none. Maybe the Tetrarch Stakes at the Curragh could be next, we will take him in steps. I'd say 10 (furlongs) suits and I'd say he would get 1m4f.
Enough Already leads a '1-2' for trainer McGuinness
he had been slowly away and I just told him (Cleary) to kick him in the belly and send him out there and just go make the running. He poached a good lead and I don't know did the boys sit too far back off him. Maybe so, but a win is a win. I thought the other fella, Comfort Line, would run well off the bottom weight but I knew turning in they weren't going to get to this fella as he's not a bad horse. Rory said he was drunk and that he definitely needed the line though.
