The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving Velvet Skies, ridden by W.J. Lee, placed first, and Rattletheonionbag, ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed second, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. C.D. Hayes stated that the two horses met each other 75 yards out and that his filly was smaller than Velvet Skies and she got unbalanced. W.J
Lee stated that he kept a straight line and received a bump which turned his mount into Rattletheonionbag. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and were satisfied that no further action was warranted
J. Kearney, rider of Dream Today, trained by Stephen Thorne, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was keen early on
W.J. Lee, rider of Velvet Skies, trained by Michael Mulvany, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount received a slight bump 80 yards out
C.D. Hayes, rider of Rattletheonionbag, trained by W.P.Browne, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount received a bump from the winner 75 yards out.
