Having been checked by the Doctor, Wheatley was deemed fit to race.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching 5 furlongs out involving Lc Tiffen (GB), unplaced, ridden by Zak Wheatley; Electrocution (GB), unplaced, ridden by Joey Haynes and Based (IRE), placed second, ridden by Curtis Wilson-Ruddock.
Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Wilson- Ruddock was offered accompaniment in the enquiry but declined.
The interference was found to be accidental as Lc Tiffen (GB) shifted left-handed whilst racing greenly initially moving Electrocution (GB) off its intended line before that runner then lugged slightly left-handed of its own accord, causing a free running Based (IRE) to lose its pitch when tightened for room on the rail.
The winner Starakova (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Leicester on 13 April 2026 where the filly finished tenth of seventeen runners, beaten 10¾ lengths.
Warren Greatrex’s representative’s explanation that the filly appreciated a return to a flatter track on this occasion, was noted.
Starakova (GB) was routine tested.
The Stewards noted that entering the first bend Sirhana (IRE) lost its prominent early position in a tightly packed field, but after viewing a recording of the incident, they were unable to apportion blame.
