Permission was given for Sampers Seven (IRE) to go early to post wearing a red hood and for both King Of Stars (IRE) and Look Out Louis (GB) to go early to post.
An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after the start involving Copper Knight (IRE), unplaced, ridden by David Allan, Apollo One (GB), placed seventh, ridden by Martin Harley, COUNT D’ORSAY (IRE), placed fourth ridden by John Egan, and Navello (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Saffie Osborne.
The interference was found to be accidental in that Copper Knight (IRE) stepped marginally left-handed giving a slight nudge to Apollo One (GB) causing that gelding to switch leads and in turn step left- handed, putting pressure onto and moving COUNT D’ORSAY (IRE) left-handed causing Osborne to have to take back for several strides.
Sean Kirrane, the rider of Live In The Dream (IRE), unplaced, was also interviewed but was found not to be involved in the interference.
Following the race, Frederick Larson reported that King Of Stars (IRE), unplaced, was slowly away and John Egan reported that his saddle slipped on COUNT D’ORSAY (IRE), placed fourth, when leaving the stalls.
