Tim Pat (IRE), trained by Donald McCain, ran without its right-fore shoe as the trainer had not indicated at the declaration stage that the gelding should be withdrawn in the event of losing a shoe on the way to post.
Having reviewed recordings of the false start, the Starters were satisfied that no riders should be reported for contravening the starting procedures.
The performance of Tim Pat (IRE), which was pulled up was considered.
Donald McCain could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance other than Tim Pat (IRE) lost its right-fore shoe prior to the race, was noted.
The performance of Omar Maretti (IRE), which started second-favourite and was pulled up, was considered.
It was noted that Alex Hales could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance on this occasion other than a report from the rider that Omar Maretti (IRE) was never travelling.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding, during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, Charlie Price reported that his saddle slipped turning in on Saint Xavier (FR), unplaced and the Veterinary Officer reported that First Lord De Cuet (FR), placed fourth, lost its right- hind shoe.
