Approaching the home bend, Payment Plan (GB), placed fifth, was significantly hampered when trapped on the heels of the weakening Laser Focus (IRE), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The Stewards held an enquiry into the circumstances surrounding Laura Pearson removing the declared hood on Laser Focus (IRE), unplaced, which had appeared to become very loose in the first furlong of the race and was affecting the horses vision.
Laura Pearson and the representative of James Owen were interviewed.
Having heard their evidence and inspected the hood that was used on this runner, the Stewards considered that the equipment was not in a serviceable condition and as such Owen was fined £140.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approximately 1½ furlongs out involving the winner, Grand Duchess Olga (GB), ridden by Chloe Lyons, Slowdownbarney (IRE), placed second, ridden by Tom Marquand and Emaculate Soldier (GER), placed fourth, ridden by Hollie Doyle.
Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Lyons was accompanied by a senior rider.
The Stewards considered that the incident had been caused by Emaculate Soldier (GER) hanging slightly right- handed off the bend before being corrected by Doyle at the same time as Grand Duchess Olga (GB) edged left-handed despite the efforts of Lyons to straighten her mount, which resulted in Slowdownbarney (IRE) being hampered when short of room between these two runners and the interference had not improved the placing of Grand Duchess Olga (GB) as the mare was only partly responsible for causing the interference and she was also not ridden out fully to the line when winning by a neck margin.
The interference was found to be accidental.
