THE MARKET CROSS JEWELLERS HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 5) (DIV II) Permission was given for both Men Of Honour (IRE) and Marajito (GB) to go early to the start; for Come On Over (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start.
Billy Garritty, the rider of Rotokura Belle (GB), was asked to explain his riding in the final 2 furlongs where he appeared to be less vigorous in the saddle to finish sixth beaten by 11 lengths.
Garritty explained that inside the 2 furlong marker he tried to improve his position down the inside rail however was denied a clear run and suffered interference which he reported at the scales.
Garritty added that the filly subsequently locked onto the bit and started to hang, rendering him unable to steer her off the heels of the runner in front of him resulting in him being unable to ride out fully to the line, despite this in his opinion Rotokura Belle (GB) had obtained the best possible placing.
Garritty’s explanation was noted.
