An enquiry was held into the apparent improvement in form of the winner, Orbys River (IRE), ridden by Toby Wynne and trained by Sam Allwood, compared with its previous run at Leicester on 13 February 2025 where the mare finished seventh of nine runners, beaten by 39 ½ lengths.
Sam Allwood was interviewed.
Allwood’s explanation that Orbys River (IRE) was found to be in season the morning following its disappointing run at Leicester, was noted, but the trainer was fined £650 for failing to report this fact to the BHA at the earliest opportunity.
