That was lovely. She one of the little ones that lives right behind my bedroom and for some reason that’s the kiss of death to most horses when they say ‘that’s one of the bosses favs!’. She’s that because she’s sweet and she’s honest. She got her pocket picked here last year and we’ve been kind to her. I thought she’d do that and would have been disappointed if she didn’t. We’re still not sure where we lie with her. She’s a work in progress. She’s not overly big but has the pedigree to die for.
Pier Pressure follows up last years Gowran win
It’s no more than he deserves as he’s a pound lower than he was 13 starts ago,. He runs his races. I gave him to Nicola earlier in the year and said to her that she’d get the hang of him along the line and have your win out of him. He has ability but he needs a chance and he needed every bit of the 7lb to come off him to do that. She gets his head in front and he decides he’ll throw her at the road! You can’t win with him. He stays on the team and he does that job. As along as he keeps doing that he’s worth having. I think it’s all about Nicola, a ride like that, because he’s not easy.
McGettigan gets a Flier in Division One of Apprentices Handicap
I was very nervous when I saw the draw but the one thing she does is jump smart and she’s very rideable,. She was beautifully ridden, he got her in exactly the right place. She always hits a little flat spot which actually helped him, he was able to kick on then and she answered all his calls. I’m delighted for her, she’s a filly that has turned inside out. She has a lovely owner, Richard Wilmot-Smith, who is sadly in London but he’s been a big supporter of mine. Talk about patience, it’s taken her a little while but at least she’s now got two on the board this year. She’s as tough as nails and she likes a battle. Onward and upwards.
Skib Gold a shock 80/1 winner at Gowran Park
I actually had a few quid each-way on him,. He ran in Killarney last week and couldn’t get round the bends, he’s a big baby. He ran well here in a maiden on his second last run when he was sixth. He was staying on at the finish then. I told Paddy to be aggressive on him today and make him do it because he can do it when he wants to. At home if you stop riding him around the gallop he’ll stop. He’s just a big lazy devil. I’m delighted. He’s a big raw horse, he’s 17 hands, and I was hoping he’d run well because the bit of ability is there. It was a moderate race but it’s tough to win any event. He seems to like Gowran. There is another one of these races back here in a fortnight’s time so that will be the next plan.
Crypto Force makes the most of opportunity to land finale
He was dropping in class a bit so he was entitled to win it,. Dylan was saying that he could go back up in trip. He probably wants the ground softer than today, he said it was as quick as he wanted it. That’ll crown him, he needed that. With the autumn coming up the ground will be getting a bit more to his liking and there will be lots of opportunities for him.
