Mitchell was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he had manoeuvred his mount right-handed into an insufficient gap, bumping Tam Lin (IRE) and causing that runner to become unbalanced for several strides.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line involving Tam Lin (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by William Carson, Sanditon (IRE), placed third, ridden by Jack Mitchell and the winner, Naval Ensign (IRE), ridden by Cieren Fallon.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Naval Ensign (IRE)’s placing as the fast-finishing filly had come from behind the other two runners with the winning distance to SANDITION in third, ½ a length.
The interference was found to be accidental as Naval Ensign (IRE) had hung left-handed despite the best efforts of its rider.
