See also » O'Sullivan eyes Rockingham for Fair Taxes Strong performance and got a nice light weight. Came up well up the drier ground and maybe he will get into a Rockingham (at Curragh) or something like that. He went to Chester the last day and things just didn't work out, he was drawn one and they just went very hard early. He probably doesn't see out six anyway and was only beaten three lengths. We had him in Tipperary the other day and it just went very soft and it wasn't going to work out. Hopefully we can get into the Curragh. Tough (horse), obviously last year was hard for him as a three-year-old. They always find it hard, there's not too many three-year-old only sprints and they are always better as four-year-olds. He's (Powell) riding like a man inspired at the minute so a big help. Light weight and he's a natural light-weight jockey. Former champion apprentice and he is having a great year this year, so great to have him. Ross O'Sullivan, trainer
R. Whearty, rider of Little Queenie, trained by Paul W. Flynn, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount went right in the last hundred yards
J.J.G. Ryan, rider of Thunderbear, trained by Jack W. Davison, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that he felt pressure from the left on the line
The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Thunderbear, ridden by J.J.G. Ryan, placed third, Little Queenie, ridden by R. Whearty, placed second, Apache Outlaw, ridden by Adam Caffrey, placed fourth and Sturlasson, ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed fifth, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. J.J.G. Ryan stated that he felt pressure from the left, but that it had not affected his finishing position. Adam Caffrey stated that he felt pressure from both sides landing on the line, but that it had not affected his finishing position. C.D. Hayes stated that he felt pressure from Little Queenie. R. Whearty stated that his mount had hung right looking at the parade ring just before the line but that he had made every effort to correct his mount. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that while Little Queenie had caused interference to both Sturlasson and Thunderbear, he did not improve his finishing position relative to these horses, so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. They were, however, of the opinion that R. Whearty, was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his record in this regard (second offence) the Raceday Stewards suspended him for four racedays
Adam Caffrey, rider of Apache Outlaw, trained by Adrian McGuinness, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount had clipped a heel on the line
C.D. Hayes, rider of Sturlasson, trained by Kieran P. Cotter, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got wiped out late on
